Jaik totally deserved a great debut
I was very pleased - but not surprised - to see that Jaik Mickleburgh enjoyed an excellent first-class debut for Essex. He scored 60 out of a fifth-wicket stand of 128 with former England wicket-keeper James Foster as Essex beat Leicestershire by an innings inside two days in the County Championship match at Grace Road.

A true waste of Norfolk's most potent seam bowler
No victories and 42 points in Championship cricket reflects a poor return for Norfolk and their supporters this season. Championship cricket, just like Test cricket, is about scoring heavily in the first innings and then being able to bowl the opposition out twice, but as soon as Paul Bradshaw made himself unavailable at the start of the campaign, this was never going to happen regularly enough for Norfolk to become serious title contenders.

Young Sam’s inclusion a positive move
Norfolk fielded their youngest player in nearly 50 years on Sunday when 16-year-old Sam Arthurton took the field for the final Minor Counties Championship match of the season against Buckinghamshire.
